Q1 How can a drill chuck grip a tool with good accuracy?
A1 For a drill chuck that is squeezed with a chuck key (chuck handle), tighten it on the 3 key holes evenly instead of just 1 hole. Tightening evenly little by little prevents the tool from misaligning in the axial direction and makes it gripped with good accuracy. For a keyless drill chuck, hold the tool firmly till it touches the jaws and squeeze it by tightening the sleeve

Q2 How can a drill of small diameter be chucked?
A2 To hold a tool of small diameter accurately, we recommend to use a drill chuck of which size is as close to the diameter of the tool as possible, though the number of available drill chucks is limited due to the limitation of available taper sizes in the machine side. For example, for a drill of 5mm dia., the suitable drill chuck should be 5MG-1JT. Accuracy tends to be higher when the tool is held with a chuck of which maximum chucking capacity is as small as possible, and as a result, the machining accuracy will be higher as well.

Q3 How can good accuracy be maintained for a long period?
A3 Drill chucks, which usually hold a tool with the 3 jaws, may hurt the tool with the jaws when it is squeezed with more torque than necessary. Besides, be careful of too much machining load, or the tool may slip off, which may have the 3 jaws worn out and lower the accuracy. Also, be careful not to air-blow the inside of the drill chuck from the jaw side when cleaning the chuck. Otherwise, the chips enter the inside, which prevents the chuck from opening and closing.
